A gorgeous French antique baby cot, swinging cradle, handmade in oak and pitch pine and made around the late 1800`s, the swinging metal hardware hooks are hand forged and also the rounded handles to the top are hand turned.
Condition
The condition for its age is very sturdy and solid although as can be seen in the many photographs there have been some modifications over the years, i think the slatted base was replaced later and also a few nails here and there, there is also signs of woodworm from way back which now is dormant and has been treated by myself as a precautionary measure as with all my antique and vintage wooden made furniture just to be double sure, and obviously there are cracks in the woodwork and many other little scratches etc, I love all these little imperfections as each chip scratch crack all tell a story this just adds to the character of this rare Antique piece of nursery furniture.

Make no mistake this is a genuine piece of French history dating from late 1800`s from the Berry region (central rural France farming area) in the long gone times when money was not an option and a new member of the family had arrived and you needed a new cot or high chair etc, many people just made there own including the nails and hinges hooks etc,also light fittings, horse and animal hardware and anything else they needed,
They just did not have the funds to buy or the transport to get to the nearest big town, most rural country farming houses also had there own furnace and some still do now!

So what will you use it for? well obviously a baby! or an amazing planter, linen basket, vegetable store etc etc im sure there are many other uses and it will be a fabulous focal and talking point to any room in the house.
