An antique French wine cider pitcher jug crafted like a barrel from staves of wood probably oak? dark-brown color bound by five wrought iron hoops.
The top hoop forms the neck and spout, the handle is iron wrapped wood and was sourced from the Burgundy region of France.
Condition
Over time the wood has dried out and now is no longer watertight,also 2 of the bands have now moved a little due to the drying out, but I assume if it was left soaking in water it would expand and become watertight again,not guaranteed but very possible, there is a small chunk of wood missing from the handle, can be seen in the photos and doesn`t ruin the overall look of this old treasure.
This is an Antique piece the patina on the wood and handle give it masses of character,.
For decorative use in a country style kitchen or to use as a vase for dried flowers spaghetti cooking utensils etc etc condition commensurate with age.
